Xeomin, Jeuveau, Botox and Dysport are all types of botulinum toxin type A injections.
While used to treat muscle spasms in certain health conditions, these two injections are primarily known for the treatment and prevention of wrinkles and are safe in small amounts
These injections help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by relaxing the underlying muscles beneath the skin. By relaxing and stilling the muscles, the skin above them turns smoother.
Neither treatment gets rid of existing wrinkles for good, but the effects are meant to make wrinkles less noticeable. You may be considering either treatment if you’re not getting the desired results with wrinkle serums and creams at home.
If you STOP using these product, your wrinkles will slowly return to their original state. They are NOT worsened by Toxin A injections.
While all Toxin A treatments contain a similar main active ingredient, trace protein amounts can vary. This can make one treatment more effective than another for some people. However, exact differences are still being studied.

Common but temporary side effects can include:
- slight injection site pain
- swelling or redness
- temporary numbness near injection site
- headache after treatment for 1-2 days.
More moderate side effects include:
- droopy eyelids
- sore throat
Although rare, these products can cause botulinum toxicity. Signs of this serious side effect include difficulties breathing, speaking, and swallowing. Toxin A also carries the risk of paralysis, however this is extremely rare.

These treatments are extremely convenient. No hospitalization is required, and all work is done at your doctor’s office.
You can leave the office immediately after treatment and even go back to work or school if you feel like it.
It is recommended that you do not exercise or lay down flat for at least 4 hours after treatment.

All brands are considered safe and effective for the temporary treatment of moderate to severe wrinkles.
The effects of Xeomin, Jeuveau, or Dysport may show up sooner (usually 4-10 days) and typically lasts up to about 4 months.
Botox effects may take longer to appear (up to 14 days) and typically lasts up to about 3 months.
Follow-up injections are necessary to maintain the results you want.

Botox is approved for treating forehead lines and crow’s feet in addition to glabellar lines. Xeomin, Jeuveau, and Dysport are approved only for glabellar lines, however, often, these products are used "off label" in other areas of the face.
